Last night we headed down to the London Eye for a special event in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy.

“Revolutions in Sound” saw the Red Bull juggernaught roll into town, taking over the wheel for the evening, filling each of the pods with a set of artists and DJs for 30 separate performances from the hottest names in electronic music and beyond:

Professor Green, Skream & Benga ft Sgt Pokes, Metalheadz ft Goldie, MC Justyce, Ms Dynamite, Kano, Beardyman, Digital Soundboy Soundsystem [ShyFX, Breakage, B Traits, Donae’o, Stamina MC & Youngman], David Rodigan,FabricLive ft Hessle Audio [Pearson Sound, Ben UFO, Pangaea], Andrew Weatherall, Roller Express, Rob da Bank Presents: Sunday Best ft Scroobius Pip, Don Letts, YoYo ft Seb Chew, Leo G & Lil Silva, Deviation ft Benji B, The 2 Bears, Jackmaster B2B Deadboy, L-Vis 1990 B2B Bok Bok [Night Slugs], Channel One Soundsystem, Horse Meat Disco, Jess Mills ft Zinc, Lunice, Afrikan Boy, RBMA Madrid ft XXXY & Doc Daneeka, Andreya Triana & Tanya Auclair,RBMA Allstars ft Space Dimension Controller B2B Braiden, Red Bull Studio presents Ben Westbeech, Roundhouse Studios,Soweto Kinch, Moshi Moshi ft D/R/U/G/S & Night Angles.

…and breathe, phew, what a line up. Downstairs, at the foot of the wheel, A silent disco for those not lucky enough to snag the tickets, as they were treated to sets from Tim Westwood, Mele, MJ Cole and Goldierocks. The audio from each of the pods was streamed live from the event so listeners around the world could tune in – and we’ll no doubt see the some of the sets appearing on the RBMA site in the near future.

The lucky few who managed to snag tickets for the pods were treated to the standard free drinks, a free 1 hour ride on the Eye and of course a “micro” gig from a whole host of epic names. We managed to get tickets to Lunice (Thanks Tarryn!) and he absolutely smashed it, playing his sharp, on-point mix of electronic bangers flitting between his own material through to dirty hip hop laced with wigged out goodness.

We managed to clear out the drinks shortly after the first rotation; blueberry vodka, shots, beers and of course Red Bull all making an appearance as the pod got it on to Lunice’s groove.

Peep some videos from the frankly, amazing night, below, excuse the wobbly hand. The red light comes from the entire wheel being transformed through the Red Bull branding, red for the pods and blue for the wheel

It goes without saying, Red Bull are winners and leaders when it comes to events and they’re making their mark in a big big way. Audacious doesn’t cover it, EPIC does. Salute!
