Gui Boratto, the Brazilian master producer who releases on Kompakt along side a few other labels is one of my heroes. From the moment I saw him DJ at one of the Kompakt nights at Plastic People this year he pretty much has stuck on my daily play in Itunes ever since.
Shebang is a bleeping, rolling minimal sort of track, but uplifting at the same time. Characteristic of his “sound” – technically perfect, and bound to bring a smile to your face!
Hailing from São Paulo, Boratto works (as of 2007) for Brazilian and multinational recording companies and is responsible for international licensings. Together with his brother Tchorta, he also runs his own independent record label called Mega Music.
He has released on labels such as Kompakt, Audiomatique, Harthouse and Plastic City. He has appeared in the charts and playlists of many leading DJs and producers, including Michael Mayer, Tiefschwarz, Steve Bug, Phonique, Martin Landsky, Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish and countless others. His album Chromophobia, has been well received in Britain and in April 2007 was awarded the title of Mixmag Album of the Month.
