Zion I Remixes feat. Santogold, Talib Kweli and The Grouch

Posted on | October 29, 2008 by Mark | Comments

K7! hit us up with some remixes from the upcoming Zion I mixtape called “The Search and The Seizure” Complete with guest appearances from Talib Kweli and The Grouch and using the chopped up vocals of one of one of the voices of the moment, Santogold, Amp Live has produced some utter heat on these!

With their most ambitious album The Takeover due in January, dynamic hip-hop duo Zion I is literally taking over tracks from the hottest artists out.  The Search & The Seizure mixtape (emphasis on TAPE) sees the duo re-working and re-interpreting a range of hip-hop classics on the A-Side, with the B-Side focusing on electro and indie-rock favorites.  This week sees the leak of a track from each side of the coin.  First off the unmistakeable voice of Santogold gets chopped by producer Amp Live to provide a stomp-and-clap bed for emcees Zumbi and The Grouch to spit over.  On “Gotsta Chill,” Zion I’s “Temperature” sees a retro styled update incorporating the unmistakable EPMD chorus and a verse from Talib Kweli.  The Search & The Seizure mixtape will be hitting the streets soon on limited edition cassette (and the internet too for those of you not lucky enough to be rocking a Radio Raheem style boombox).  The Takeover will be out on Gold Dust on January 27th
