Back in the game

Posted on | May 24, 2008 by Mark |

Well it’s been a while. A week and a bit more, so apologies for my absence. I’ve just moved house and without the net, i’ve been a bit out of touch with the world (online). So anyway, i’ve still managed to be checking some new stuff out and here’s my pick of what i’ve been listening to this week:

First up, Feist. This is not one of the greatest tracks ever, but it’s a nice little simmerer for the summer, with Diplo jackin’ a few beats in to keep it flowing nicely.

Both of the following tracks are picked from the “Remix Romance Vol 1″ cd which has been handpicked by Paper Records and Johan Agerbjorn (Shapiro’s producer). The project involves some big names in the electronic world and here’s two of the biggest, Lindstrom; who put’s a sprinkling of his space disco dust onto “Time To Let Go” and The Juan MacLean who keeps the original “Italo” sound intact on “I Know You’re My Love - but adding a little bif of that “DFA Sound” (You know what I mean!)

I was out at the pub last night and it was recommended that I check out the new Pendulum album, which was ready to be checked as it was sitting there. Apparantley “Propane Nightmares” was “THE TRACK” to be tasted, and if you enjoy the start of Spanish Football on Sky Sports on a Saturday night then the intro will not disappoint. This is a lyrical DnB track, which i’d not normally enjoy, but actually I quite like this, typical of the Pendulum sound.

The Presets are back in the UK this summer for another tour - and after checkin’ them at Fabric on their last tour - I can’t wait. This Boy’s in Love is realeased as a CDM with remixes from Lifelike (which we already featured a while back), Jori Hulkkonen and KIM. KIM rip the track a small beat and whilst not as quick or pulsing as the Lifelike remix, this is a little bit easier on the ears at 7.30am in the morning - mind you, if i was still out - i’d like the Lifelike remix to finish the night (as someone stole the keys to the sky)
