KLF vs Ricardo Villalobos - What Time Is Love?
Posted on | April 9, 2008 |

Have to admit - I’m not the biggest fan of Villalobos. His style is minimal to the extreme and I find myself getting a little, well, bored. I did like the concept of his Fabric mix CD but again it’s just too tepid for my tastes.
In his defense he’s done some cracking remixes (his mix of Depeche Mode’s ‘Sinner in Me’ was all over clubs a couple of years ago) so I really didn’t know what to expect when I heard he’d remixed KLF’s hi-NRG track ‘What Time is Love?’.
Forget about the original - as you’d expect from a Villalobos remix it’s stripped back to the bone and then drenched in space-echo vocals, ping-pong delay and a pounding beat. It’s his best composition by far this year and something I think Mr’s Drummond and Cauty would be proud of!
